 Arika Atherton - Townsend is a purpose-driven leader whose life reflects a deep commitment to service, creativity, and community. Raised in a close-knit family, she developed strong values rooted in faith, empowerment, and connection—principles that continue to guide her work today.

 A graduate of Garfield High School’s Class of 1988, Arika discovered her passion for fashion early, started college courses while in high-school and went on to graduate cum laude from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM). Her professional journey spans roles in banking, nonprofit leadership, and project & program management, each marked by excellence, adaptability, and a dedication to growth. She also holds certifications in Interior Design, further enriching her creative vision.Â

 As the founder of Pieces & Dezign Collective, Arika curates events and culturally rich
marketplaces that celebrate community and elevate Black-owned businesses. Through fashion, styling, and immersive experiences, her work
encourages authentic self-expression and meaningful connection.

A devoted community advocate, Arika has served as a Youth Director and continues to support students and families through partnerships with public schools and Black Student Unions. As a speaker and mentor, she inspires others to walk in purpose, embrace their roots, and pursue excellence with confidence and faith.Â
